Ipphing's paintings are known for its combination of oil, watercolor and crayon paintings with the touch of calligraphy.

Born in 1946 in Tulungagung, Ipphing started his career in paintings when he was 20 years of age. Having actively participated in several exhibitions in Indonesia and some other countries from 1971-1980, Ipphing then decided to travel to United States in 1980 where he tried to sell his works in one of the most expensive painting galleries. There he met a famous painter who told him that if he wanted to be successful in selling his paintings, he has to first be a successful bussinesman in any field.
